December inflation eases to 3.1%
December inflation eased to 3.1% on a year-on-year basis, down from November's inflation of 3.2%, data from Stats SA showed.
Stats SA released the inflation figures on Wednesday. The consumer price inflation increased by 0.2% on a month-on-month basis. Overall the average consumer inflation for 2020 inflation was 3.3%
The main contributors to December's annual inflation of 3.1% were food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities and miscellaneous goods and services.
Economists expected inflation to hover around the 3% mark.
